Have you been underwhelmed by everything Weezer has put out since Pinkerton ?
This dude is, too, and he’s calling them on their emo-cartoon ways and trying to raise ten million clams to get the band to STFU and GTFO. And he only needs to raise $9,999,806 to reach that lofty goal. Campaign organizer James Burns says:
Every year, Rivers Cuomo swears that he’s changed, and that their new album is the best thing that he’s done since “Pinkerton,” and what happens? Another pile of crap like “Beverly Hills” or “I’m Your Daddy.”
This is an abusive relationship, and it needs to stop now.
I am tired of my friends being disappointed year after year.
I am tired of endless whimsical cutesy album covers and music videos… I beg you, Weezer. Take our money and disappear.
Drummer Patrick Wilson tweeted a reaction to the campaign, saying if donations hit $20m, they’d have a “deluxe breakup.” Rivers Cuomo wasn’t as jovial, however, grumbling about the negativity driving traffic to the author’s site. Weezer’s new album hits stores November 2nd.
