President Obama is really bringing the hammer down on lawmakers in Washington. The President said today that he was going to punish all of the naughty lawmakers in Washington by withholding their K’NEX Building Toys this Christmas.
Obama, who took a tour today of a factory that makes K’NEX building toys, said:
“Santa delivers everywhere. I’ve been keeping my own naughty and nice list for Washington … So you should keep your eye on who gets some K’NEX this year. There are going to be some members of Congress who get ’em, and some who don’t.”
Obama visited the K’NEX factory to talk about the impending fiscal cliff and his plan to extend tax cuts for middle income families.
According to a White House aide, Obama chose to tour the K’NEX factory outside of Philadelphia because the company relies on middle-class consumers. The Obama administration campaigned on the idea of extending tax cuts for the middle class, saying that the average family would see their taxes increase by more than $2000 per year if the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire on January 1.
Obama was taken on a tour of the company by Joel Glickman, the founder of the company.
Obama said:
“It makes me wish that Joel had invented this stuff a little sooner when I was a kid. Back then, you couldn’t really build a roller coaster out of your Erector set.”
Obama didn’t say who would be getting K’NEX toys this year but he did say that he wouldn’t be giving any of the toys to Vice President Joe Biden. Not because Biden’s on the naughty list but because President Obama doesn’t want his VP to be playing with toys all day.
Obama said:
“Joe Biden wanted to buy some of (K’NEX). But I told him he had too much work to do. I wasn’t going to have him building roller coasters all day long.”
