3D technology has begun to quickly take over our lives and while the Nintendo 3DS may seem like the next logical option for handheld gaming, a new study is suggesting that being subject to 3D fields for more than several hours can lead to headaches. Apparently the human brain doesn’t like to be tricked into looking at fake fields of depth for long periods of time.
Nintendo isn’t coming out and announcing any findings at this time, however according to Engadget , they are working with top specialists in the 3D field to determine the consequences of extended 3D viewing times. Nintendo has however recommended that young gamers take it easy when experiencing 3D playing.
Here’s an interesting fact, the warning to avoid extended playing is mostly geared at children because their eye muscles are not fully developed and the strain from 3D viewing can cause damage at increased rates.
According to Fils-Aime, children 7 and younger should avoid 3DS gaming. Instead they suggest those young gamers use the slider mechanism on the system to lower the effects of 3D or to turn off the 3D effects all together.
