NFL rumors have been swirling around Josh Doctson. He is one of the best wide receivers coming out of the college ranks. Several teams will be in need of a talented receiver. According to CBS Sports, one team that could potentially be interested in selecting him in this year’s NFL Draft will be the Minnesota Vikings. The team is looking to bring in someone who can help kick start the Vikings offense. Doctson would give Teddy Bridgewater a deep threat that the team has been looking for.
Among the wide receiver class in this year’s NFL Draft, Josh Doctson is believed to be the most pro ready. He has all the skill set to become a great wide receiver. Doctson has the size, athleticism, leaping ability, and hands. During his time at TCU, Doctson had a knack for making big plays. He is a player that will go up and fight for the 50-50 balls and come down with it. Doctson may have the best hands in the upcoming draft.
The Minnesota Vikings have one of the best running backs in the NFL in Adrian Peterson. Behind the former Oklahoma Sooners star, the Vikings were the fourth best in the league in terms of rushing yards. Peterson was also the top rusher in the entire National Football League. He rushed for 1,485 yards on 327 attempts this season. Mike Zimmer and Norv Turner will keep running the offense through Peterson for the next couple of years. That means Josh Doctson wouldn’t be pressured to produce major numbers right away.
The Minnesota Vikings had one of the worst offensive lines in terms of protecting the quarterback. That was the number one priority for the team this offseason. The Vikings did just that by signing Alex Boone and Andre Smith. Boone signed a four-year contract worth $26.8 million. The former San Francisco 49ers was one of the best offensive linemen last season. Boone is a versatile player who can play every position on the offensive line. Smith signed a one-year deal worth $4.5 million.
The Minnesota Vikings are in need of a deep threat. The team focused on fixing the offensive line during free agency. Now that the line is all set, the Vikings will be looking to draft a wide receiver in this year’s NFL Draft. Josh Doctson could potentially be the right guy.
