Neil Patrick Harris is preparing to host the Emmy Awards on Sunday, and the actor revealed he won’t give up the stage unless he absolutely has to go.
The second-time Emmy host spoke to reporters on Wednesday morning after he helped roll out the famous red carpet during a ceremony.
Yahoo! News reports that Harris explained, “I’ll be staying on stage the whole show — with a few exceptions.”
The actor added that he “thought about having a colostomy bag,” but added, “I thought that would not be good for the first few rows.”
So, if you happen to watch the Emmys on Sunday and Neil Patrick Harris runs off stage for a minute or two, you know exactly where he went — the bathroom.
Harris also told reporters that he doesn’t feel like he has to prove he’s worthy for the Emmy host position this time around. He also previously hosted the Tony Awards. CBS News notes that the Emmys will be held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles for the sixth year.
In preparation, Neil Patrick Harris has attended several rehearsals and tweeted all about it. He wrote on Wednesday, “Been dancing my face off in rehearsals for the choreographer’s # in the @PrimetimeEmmys. I’ve such a crazy respect for these dancers. Unreal.”
While the How I Met Your Mother star plans to stay on stage as much as possible, he won’t have to play host the entire time. Harris explained, “There’s a lot of awards, so I thankfully don’t have to do a lot of work. I get to come up with some funny one-liners.”
The actor couldn’t resist joking about fellow TV star Charlie Sheen, adding, “If someone vomits, I get to joke about it, but there’s not a lot of vomit. Charlie Sheen hasn’t been on Two and a Half Men for years.”
The Primetime Emmys hosted by Neil Patrick Harris will be air on CBS on Sunday evening.
