NBA rumors have been swirling around Evan Turner. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star is one of the best backup point forwards in the entire National Basketball Association. Turner is set to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming summer. Several teams will be interested in signing a unique talent like him to their roster. According to FanSided, one of the teams that might come calling is the Los Angeles Clippers. Team president Doc Rivers will be looking to add some pieces to his roster so they can get to the next level and hopefully win an NBA Championship.
Before signing with Boston Celtics, Evan Turner’s value in the National Basketball Association was pretty low. He was the second overall selection in the 2010 NBA Draft. Turner was picked by the Philadelphia 76ers. He spent three and a half seasons with them. Turner did an amazing job for the 76ers. He led them to the NBA Playoffs twice. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star was traded to the Indiana Pacers. That’s when everything went downhill for Turner.
Evan Turner’s main role with the Boston Celtics was to be the team’s sixth man. He has thrived in that role. Turner is the main playmaker off the bench. He has also improved on the defensive side of the ball. Head coach Brad Stevens has depended on Turner to provide a spark off the bench. He has played an average of 28 minutes per game for the past two seasons. His first year with the Celtics. He averaged 9.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.1 rebounds per game.
Doc Rivers and the Los Angeles Clippers have been looking for someone to fill their need at the small forward position for a couple years now. Last summer, Rivers decided to take a chance and trade for Lance Stephenson. Things didn’t turn out the way he wanted to. Stephenson didn’t even last a full season with the team. He was traded in the middle of the year for Jeff Green. Green could possibly be the answer for the Clippers, but he is set to become a free agent this summer.
The Los Angeles Clippers will be looking for a solution at the small forward position. Evan Turner could potentially be that guy. Turner has shown that he is a team player, and a threat on both sides of the ball. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star is one of the best backup point forwards in the NBA. He will be making some serious money this summer when free agency hits.
