NBA rumors have always swirled around LeBron James, but the flames were fanned when he made a peculiar move on social media on Monday. According to the New York Daily News, his Twitter account is no longer following the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team that he currently plays for and was supposed to bring a championship to. Since a title seems extremely hard to achieve at the moment, many will find it easier to believe that James would leave via free agency again.
When the Cleveland Cavaliers recently visited the Miami Heat, fans in South Beach decided to stick it to LeBron James. Many of them are still upset with the 6’8″, 260-pound forward for leaving what was supposed to be an NBA dynasty behind to return home to Ohio to help the team that initially drafted him. Heat fans taunted James by chanting that he cannot win a championship in the National Basketball Association without Pat Riley.
Earlier this season, the Cleveland Cavaliers fired David Blatt, a very good coach that led them to the NBA Finals last season. Blatt was replaced by Tyronn Lue, the man that LeBron James and the rest of the Cavaliers wanted as head coach. Though Cleveland continues to win a good amount of their games and sit atop the Eastern Conference, the coaching change doesn’t appear to have made a huge impact on their chances of beating the Golden State Warriors.
LeBron James had an easier time playing with All-Star players when he was with the Miami Heat. Dwyane Wade was the Heat franchise player for a very long time and even helped them win a NBA Championship on his own. He became a willing sidekick. Chris Bosh struggled a little after leaving the Toronto Raptors. However, he learned that it’s best to be a sidekick on a winning team than being a franchise player for a team that couldn’t really contend.
The sight of LeBron James breaking the hearts of Cleveland Cavaliers fans a second time would be one of the most interesting things ever in the history of professional sports. It would shift the balance of the NBA once again. While he’ll never admit this publicly to the media, the thought of wearing another jersey next season has to be quite the distraction for the remainder of this season.
