NBA rumors have been swirling Ryan Anderson. The 28-year-old power forward is set to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming summer. Anderson was one of the best backup big men in the National Basketball Association. He has the ability to hit from beyond the arc and can explode on offense. Several teams will be looking to acquire the scoring big man during the offseason. According to Sporting News, one of the teams that will be calling to sign him will be the Houston Rockets. They have been looking for a consistent stretch power forward for the past couple of years.
The New Jersey Nets picked Ryan Anderson with the 21st selection in the 2008 NBA Draft. He spent only one year with the Nets. Anderson was traded along with Vince Carter to the Orlando Magic. His best season with the Magic was in 2011. Anderson averaged 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds. It is a career high for rebounds. He also won the NBA Most Improved Player of the Year award. The former California Golden Bears star led the National Basketball Association in three-point field goals made.
Ryan Anderson is a very versatile player in the NBA. The former California Golden Bears star can play at the small forward, power forward, and center spot on the floor. At 6’10” 240 pounds, he is a very good scorer and good at rebounding. Not only can Anderson score from the three-point line, but he can also score down in the low post. Last season, he placed sixth in voting for the Sixth Man of the Year award.
The Houston Rockets might lose Dwight Howard this summer. The former Defensive Player of the Year is expected to opt out of his contract. Many people expect that Howard will be suiting up in a different uniform next season. He has expressed his frustration with the Rockets earlier in the year. Howard was hoping for more touches on offense. With him leaving, the Rockets will have plenty of money to spend in free agency.
Ryan Anderson is one of the top power forwards available in free agency this summer. Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is looking to retool his roster for next season. He is looking for players who can fit in with superstar James Harden. The Rockets would love to add a versatile big man like Anderson to their team.
