Actor Don Grady has passed away at the age of 68. He is survived by wife, Ginny, and their two children.
Don Grady, most famous for portraying “Robbie Douglas” on the television show My Three Sons , also an original Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeer, died Wednesday. “My dear friend and TV brother Don Grady passed away today,” posted My Three Sons co-star Barry Livingston. “He was an inspiration to me in so many ways.” Livingston played alongside Grady as Ernie on the TV show.
Grady, who held the role on Sons from 1960 to 1972, had reportedly been battling cancer, according to TMZ .
Born Don Louis Agrati in in 1944, Grady wrote a few episodes of Sons and performed some of his own music on the program. He went on to appear in a number of other shows, including The Ann Southern Show, Zane Grey Theater, The Rifleman, The Lucy Show and Simon and Simon.
He is also known for his music. He was signed to a composing, writing, and singing contract by Capitol Records when he was 19. He later went on to become a composer after his career as a TV actor. He did the music for the Blake Edwards comedy Switch , the theme song for The Phil Donahue Show and music for the Las Vegas stage show EFX , according to The Wrap .
He has also released two albums: “Homegrown,” in 1973 and “Boomer: JazRokPop” in 2008 from Elektra Records.
