My Chemical Romance’s lead singer, Gerard Way, is planning to release a new graphic novel inspired by the band’s last album, entitled, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

This comes just days after the band announced they were to split, an act that devastated their hoards of fans from across the world. They have since organised a petition that is designed to force the band to tour for one last time.

The novel is being released through the British comic book store, Forbidden Planet, and will hit stores on June 6. A free preview of the book will be released on Free Comic Book Day, which takes place on May 4.

Way co-wrote the series with Shaun Simon, whilst Becky Cloonan provided the artwork for the piece. The plot of the novel revolves around Killjoys fighting against the tyrannical mega corporation Better Living Industries.

Most of those involved lose their lives, all except for one girl who then goes on a mission to destroy the conglomeration. In the past Way stated that the novels would serve as the “last part of the story” and is a “coming to age story about a young girl.”

Over the weekend Way left a long message, that comprised of 1,979 words, to fans of My Chemical Romance , explaining that the band were now more.

Way stated, “My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too. Because it is not a band – it is an idea.”

Fans reacted badly to the announcement, with Cameron Lee, the man who organised the petition asking them to tour again, stating, “They ended so abruptly without saying goodbye to their fans properly, and the MCRmy is upset. They need to do it correctly if they’re going to do it at all.”
