Are Music Industry Videos Kim Kardashian-Proof? Kanye West Doesn’t Seem To Think So

Fans of Kim Kardashian will be aware that the reality TV star has a huge reach. It sometimes seems like the Kardashian and Jenner clan are everywhere. Kim has kept a low profile for the past couple of months. Kardashian has been dealing with the aftermath of the Paris jewelry robbery, and of course, Kim’s husband, Kanye West, has recently been hospitalized after canceling his recent tour. Yeezy re-emerged earlier this week for a much-publicized meeting with Donald Trump at Trump Tower, but Kardashian has maintained her social media silence. Kim hasn’t posted on her own social media account for 10 weeks.
The Sun claims that Kardashian has broken her silence, on a new Instagram account, supposedly launched to promote a new line of merchandise on Kim’s website. The account name “Kimoji,” named after Kardashian merchandise of the same name, has shared two images and two videos multiple times. The racy video supposedly shows Kardashian shaking her booty, presumably as she “twerks” along to some music.
Warning this video is suggestive and may not be safe for work. You can view the clip in question on Instagram.
While the Sun seems to be convinced the woman in the video is Kim Kardashian, many fans are less convinced.
Comments on the video’s range from “slut-shaming” to claims that the woman in the video is not Kim. One user summed up the thoughts of many when she asked why anyone would care.
“This obviously isn’t Kim, and if it was who cares?! If you’re taking Instagram posts that personally/seriously then you may need to take a look at your own life to figure out when your reality became skewed, or just unfollow.”
So, What’s With Kim Kardashian And Kanye West’s Videos?
Vanity Fair has been somewhat unkind when it claims that the music video industry is the one niche that seems to be “Kardashian-proof.”
“The Kardashian-Jenner’s have infiltrated just about every industry, but there’s still one left that they just can’t seem to crack. No matter how hard they try, no one seems to be able to make it in the music biz.”
Those with a long memory will doubtless recall that Kim Kardashian West recorded a single “Jam (Turn It Up)” back in 2011. Despite having a top producer, both the song and the video flopped. In 2014, Kim told Bravo TV that releasing an auto-tuned dance track had not been her smartest move.
“If there’s one thing in life that I wish I didn’t do… I don’t like it when people kind of dabble into things they shouldn’t be. And that I don’t think I should have. Like, what gave me the right to think I could be a singer? I don’t have a good voice.”
Of course, you would expect Kanye West to support Kim’s endeavors. Fans will recall that Kardashian, joined Taylor Swift, Kanye, and a host of other celebrities, in a giant bed, for the video of Kanye’s “Famous” released earlier this year. Kim, Taylor, Kanye, and everyone else were naked in the video. Of course, most of the “celebrities” were wax dummies.
The Kanye and Kim video have had nearly 22 million views on YouTube, so fans clearly appreciated the video. It isn’t just fans that appreciated “Famous” Paste Magazine has the song at number five in its list of this year’s top music videos. They call “Famous” “strange, self-indulgent, and brilliant.”
“‘Famous’ is a microcosm of the Kanye West that we’ve grown to know since he became, well, famous. ‘Famous’ is grandiose, strange and self-indulgent, but it’s also sort of brilliant.”
“‘Famous’ is ridiculous, ambitious and about twice as long as it needs to be, eventually with director West just showing his wax celebrities snoring for minutes at a time.”
As Rolling Stone recently reported Kanye West has a total of eight nominations for the upcoming Grammys. Kanye has been nominated for Best Rap Song for “Famous.” Doubtless, the video will be nominated when the VMA’s come around. The music industry may be Kardashian-proof, but clearly Kanye West doesn’t agree.
