Tara Thompson, 55, wanted to give herself her dream body with plastic surgery after being a mother of two. She spent $11,000 on breast implants but ended up paying more for her health.
Another reason she wanted a perfect body was because of her profession. As a boat captain in Hawaii, she wore swimsuits and wanted to look confident in them. She got plastic surgery in 2020 that made her size go from 36C to 36D. Thompson revealed, “The doctor talked me into going larger than I originally wanted. It was my biggest insecurity. It was the beginning of a new chapter.”
This helped fix her insecurity about her looks, but it only lasted a while. After the first operation, her left breast became rock hard in February 2021. She reported that to the doctors, who told her there was dried blood inside the body. So they recommended that she get another corrective plastic surgery.
That did not fix the issue, and she had to go under the knife for the third time. This time, she had to remove the implants completely. This is when the situation turned into a nightmare as her nipples turned black due to necrosis, and she had different infections.
She said, “The nipple started to turn black. I was shocked. I was very sick at this stage. I couldn’t eat. Two weeks after the third surgery, I told him I’m sick.” She went through tests, which revealed she had three different infectious diseases. Thompson explained what the doctor told her: “He told me I needed to be on the next flight out or I was going to die. I was told I had three infectious diseases. I was riddled with infection.”

Despite getting new implants, her body wasn’t in good shape. She had dimples, and the implant was close to her collarbone. Apart from the botched appearance, her health started to deteriorate. She had severe back pain, and she struggled even to brush her hair.
She added, “I went from 140lbs to 111lbs; my entire world was just blowing up. I was in daily pain. I was just surviving, not functioning.” Working was hard for her, and she needed help from the crew to get on the boat.
After years of struggle, Thompson decided to remove both the implants. With implants gone, her body had several scars, both emotional and physical. Her body doesn’t look the same, while she mentally cannot date someone due to her insecurities.
She concluded, “I’m single. I haven’t reached that point where mentally I can let somebody see me without a top on. It’s put me off dating. I think I’ve been beyond botched. I still have physical pain now. I only have about a third of the strength that I had before all of this. I’ll never get implants again.” She shared her experience to warn people of the risks of plastic surgery and to do proper research if opting for it.
