Mitt Romney’s website was ready to go if the GOP candidate had pulled off an upset on Election Day, but, even though he lost, a few people caught a glimpse of what President Elect Romney’s site would have been.
As the Vancouver Sun noted, the transitional Mitt Romney website was briefly visible to the public on a server for a Utah software company, SolutionStream. Taegan Goddard of Political Wire was able to grab some screenshots, which made their way onto the web.
President Elect Mitt Romney’s site would have shown the GOP’s nominee gazing off to the left of the screen with an American flag fluttering above his head.
In the space next to Romney’s bust was a quote: “I’m excited about our prospects as a nation. My priority is putting people back to work in America.”
But, of course, Mitt Romney’s website never got a chance to debut. The candidate was trounced by President Obama, winning only 206 electoral votes, though Florida’s 29 electoral votes have yet to be officially allotted.
Mitt Romney’s website also gave insight into some of his plans as president, The Huffington Post noted:
The section “Believe in America” on Mitt Romney’s website read: “President-elect Romney has a vision for an American century and has a strategy to secure our enduring interests and ideals. He believes that liberty, opportunity, and free enterprise have led to prosperity and strength before and will do so again.”
The “Restoring America’s Leadership” section read: “President-elect Romney knows many Americans are asking whether our country today—with our ailing economy, and our massive debt, and after 11 years at war—is still capable of leading. President-elect Romney believes that if America does not lead, others will—others who do not share our interests and our values—and the world will grow darker, for our friends and for us. America’s security and the cause of freedom call for strong leadership. ”
Mitt Romney’s “Repealing the Affordable Care Act” page read: ” On his first day in office, Mitt Romney will issue an executive order that paves the way for the federal government to issue Affordable Care Act waivers to all 50 states. He will then work with Congress to repeal the full legislation as quickly as possible.”
Mitt Romney’s website was reportedly taken down quickly after it was made public.
