The Romney campaign released its first ad of the general election on Tuesday, a 30-second spot that focuses on what the Republican candidate will do on day one in the White House.
The ad is reportedly set to run in several battleground states, like Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, and North Carolina. It is titled “Day One” and was first released early Tuesday morning by Romney’s campaign manager Matt Rhoades in an email to “trusted supporters,” reports ABC News .
The campaign has also released an identical ad in Spanish, titled “Dia Uno.” The spot answers the question, “What would a Romney Presidency be like?” The voice-over in the ad says:
“President Romney immediately approves the Keystone pipeline, creating thousands of jobs that Obama blocked. President Romney introduces tax cuts and reforms that reward job creators, not punish them. President Romney issues order to begin replacing Obamacare with commonsense health care reform. That’s what a Romney Presidency will be like.”
According to The Washington Post , Romney spoke with reporters on Thursday, saying that his first spot will be a “positive ad” that is in contrast to President Barack Obama’s “character assassination ad” about Bain Capital, which was founded by Romney.
In April, Romney laid out a more detailed “Day One” to do list. The Republican candidate stated that he would demand Congress cuts corporate income taxes, slash $20 million from the budget, allow states to opt out of portions of the health-care law, rewrite the way all federal regulations are issued, and also call out China for cheating on international trade. The Washington Post notes that his ambitious agenda will “likely be hard to achieve because of the way the government works.”
