The Minnesota Vikings and Adrian Peterson could soon be parting ways, new rumors indicate after reports of a heated argument between the running back’s agent and team officials.
Sources said the two sides met at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, but instead of making headway on a deal to keep Peterson in the team’s backfield, the sides ended up deepening the rift.
Sources say that Peterson’s agent, Ben Dogra, and Vikings vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski ended up in an altercation, during which Dogra said Peterson would never play for the team again . The fight reportedly got so heated that Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik had to pull Dogra and Brzezinski apart.
The situation between Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings has been quite precarious since the running back’s arrest for child abuse last year. The team has said publicly that it wants to keep their All-Pro running back, but Peterson reportedly felt slighted by their lack of support during his legal troubles.
“Through this process, I’ve thought about playing other places, with everything that’s been floating around the organization,” Peterson said back in December. “But I keep a level mind. The people that are doubting me are people that are, in the big scheme of things, not relevant. I’m able to look at the organization as a whole and see (it) for what it is. There are friends, teammates — people I’ve been around for years. I think about what I would be leaving behind, but it’s a business as well.”
Now, rumors indicate that Adrian Peterson is all but assured to be playing for a new team next year.
“He will never play another game for the Vikings,” a source close to the player told Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports . “It’s over.”
With Adrian Peterson rumored to be gone from the Minnesota Vikings, there are several teams that could take the troubled running back, though the Dallas Cowboys seem the most obvious pick. Peterson has been linked to the Cowboys several times over the last few months, and has reportedly expressed an interest in returning to his home state to play.
