A Texas Millionaire, Ron Sturgeon, is offering up two of his mansions worth $3.5 million to the victims of the recent Texas tornadoes. Sturgeon says the mansions are currently sitting empty as they are for sale and is hoping that he can help a family have a comfortable home for a few months while they get back on their feet. Sturgeon is offering up one of his mansions that is complete with a 10-car garage and swimming pool for just $1 per month to victims of the Texas Christmas tornadoes. Sturgeon says the applications will be viewed on a first-come-first served basis and that he is even willing to throw in one of his cars for free to whoever ends up staying in his not-so-humble abode.

According to the Dallas Morning News, though the original post only indicates one mansion for two different families, it is noted that Sturgeon has since offered up a second mansion which can also house two families.
“One of Sturgeon’s houses on Cheek-Sparger Road is 9,120 square feet, according to the Tarrant Appraisal District, and he’s priced it at $2.4 million; the other on Stafford Drive is 7,477 square feet and $1.7 million.”
The homes are elaborate and listed on Zillow for sale, but Sturgeon says that he will allow the families to stay in the home for up to three months while they get back on their feet. He says that he was just thinking how lucky he was and that with such large houses sitting vacant, he had to do something.
“We left the country one day after all that had happened. It was so much like Moore, Okla., just so many houses destroyed. I was just thinking how lucky I was to have two big houses sitting vacant. Maybe somebody could use those while they were having their houses rebuilt.”
Though the homes are only $1 per month, not just anyone will be able to apply for the mansion stay. Sturgeon says applicants would be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis, but that the applicants must be able to verify they lost their home in the storm, pass a background check, and have at least a 700 credit score to apply for the $1 per month lease that would be in effect for three months.
