Miley Cyrus says she’s always growing and changing, and now she says it’s for the better. The star has recently publicly talked about getting clean from smoking pot almost every day, but Miley is now opening up about how she felt sexualized as a young woman and teenager, and she’s opted for a more modest route when it comes to fashion choices these days.
In the past, the star had been known for her brazen styles and performances that included wearing next to nothing and twerking and grinding up on other performers. But she’s decided that isn’t for her anymore, and she’d rather spread her messages another way.
According to Miley Cyrus, she has more important messages she wants to convey with her music and as an artist. The star says she is vocal about marriage equality and female empowerment, but she felt the message was getting lost in all of the controversy of her latest crazy performance.
She added that she feels “far away” from “the person” who used to perform scandalous routines.
Miley Cyrus admits that at one point, it was expected for her to show up to an event topless and to stick out her tongue, and she just doesn’t feel like that’s who she is anymore.
The star, who was recently interviewed by Harper’s Bazaar, says that her image got to a point where she felt she was constantly being sexualized, and she wasn’t a huge fan of the feeling, especially being so young. So for now, she’s chosen to go the more modest route and focus on her music and her message.
Miley Cyrus has gone on a social media blackout during the past few months, similar to what Taylor Swift is doing now. The star said that she is figuring herself out so fast that it is hard for her to keep up with herself as she goes through this intense period of self-discovery.
She also noted that her days as Hannah Montana didn’t affect her much when she was growing up because she was simply used to it. But now, Miley Cyrus realizes how much pressure she was under at the time and the effect it has had on her as an adult.
