Mike Wayans, Vanessa Simmons Expecting, Didn’t Wanna Tell Rev. Run

Mike Wayans and Vanessa Simmons are expecting a baby, the pair have revealed, and the latter says she was nervous about telling dad Joseph Simmons, aka Rev. Run of Run DMC.

Mike Wayans, 28, and Vanessa Simmons, 30, have been an item for eight years. The former is the son of Damon Wayans — and Vanessa reveals that the happy parents-to-be believed their unborn child was a boy.

However, the expectant couple were excited to learn that the baby is actually a girl, and Simmons told Us :

“We are both very excited about the birth of our first child… We totally were expecting it to be [a] boy all along but got very surprised when we found out it was indeed a girl. I immediately went out and brought a cute [little] outfit for her right after the appointment.”

Simmons also says that as the pair have not yet tied the knot, she was a bit nervous about telling dad Rev. Run about his grandchild — but she also was relieved to learn he wasn’t too upset his 30-year-old daughter was with child:

“I was so nervous telling my dad at first being that I’m not married YET but he was very excited and is supportive 100 percent. His concern is just that I’m happy… Both families are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new baby girl. She’s coming into two huge families waiting to give her lots of love.”

While Simmons and Wayans are all set five months into the pregnancy when it comes to gender-based planning and familial notifications, the Run DMC star’s daughter said that there’s still one piece of the puzzle left to fall into place.

According to the soon-to-be mom, the couple still have not settled upon a moniker for the Simmons-Wayans baby:

“We are still deciding on a name… I definitely want something with meaning so it’s taking a bit of time deciding.”

Mike Wayans and Simmons say the due date is in February.
