A Michigan woman identified as Jessica Perkins initially made several trips past her ex-husband’s home, following which the Leelanau County deputies were called. When the police officials reached the spot, she led them on a chase and eventually crashed her car after losing control on a curve north of Bingham. The entire incident was captured in body-camera footage that eventually led to her arrest as well.

According to a case explained by Sergeant Steve on his YouTube channel, a 41-year-old Michigan woman initially hit a patrol car with her vehicle before fleeing the scene in September 2024. When officials approached her for interrogation, they observed signs of impairment, and Parkins admitted to smoking w**d but refused to comment on the amount of her consumption. The Michigan woman also revealed that she had been cleaning houses and also attempted to invoke family connections to law enforcement for “professional courtesy.” The connections didn’t seem to help her much as officers insisted that she step out of the vehicle.

She said, “I’ve been smoking a lot of w**d. I wouldn’t do that right in front of you. I’m not a f**king dumb a*s. Like, okay, but you also know that my father is Ron London.” At that point, she warned the officials, telling them of her plans to get them on a chase.

“I’m probably actually going to make you chase me. I’m not going to lie to you,” she said, further adding, “I’m actually going to drive away.” The official was taken aback by her statements and attempted to get her out of the vehicle, but even before that, she drove the vehicle and sped away.

As per the authorities, the woman fled at approximately 90 mph while driving erratically and passing other vehicles on the road. The chase eventually ended after she lost control of her car and nearly struck a cyclist headed northbound before losing control of the car and crashing. The immediate responders found her in an unconscious state, trapped inside her rolled car.

The bodycam video shows the police officer saying, “Drove into my vehicle. white Toyota sedan. She is [fleeing] at 90 mph, driving erratically while passing other vehicles. In pursuit. Going to be northbound. 457. She just wrecked. Send EMS. We are north of Bingham on the curve. 641. Send EMS.”

The firefighters brought her out of the car using their tools. After regaining consciousness, she apologized to the deputies and repeatedly expressed her regret over her actions. “I’m sorry. I was scared. I should have just gotten out when you tried to get me out the first time, and then I got scared, and I ran,” she said.

Later, a legal blood draw at the hospital established that Perkins had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.234, nearly three times Michigan’s 0.08 legal limit. According to Up North Live, the 41-year-old was initially charged with five felonies: third-offense OWI, destruction of police property, fleeing police, assaulting an officer, and habitual offender. She had fled to Florida and was taken into custody in Venice and deported to Leelanau County in December 2024.

The report further suggests that the woman pleaded guilty to two felonies in March 2025— third-offense OWI and third-degree fleeing—with remaining charges dismissed. She was reportedly sentenced to -5 years in prison in April 2025 and directed to pay $1,508 for the damaged patrol vehicle and $3,553 in deportation costs. In addition, she also faced separate charges in Grand Traverse County for massive destruction of property and driving on a suspended license.
