Everyone knew that Michael Jackson protected his children from prying eyes, but that was what the world saw from the outside. Now his grown kids are opening up about what it was like to live that secluded life with their famous dad, in a new documentary.

Michael Jackson’s kids, Prince Michael, 16; Paris, 15; and Blanket, 11, are sharing what it was like growing up under their loving father’s protection in the documentary Remembering Michael .

The kids talked about the devastating loss they suffered when Michael Jackson died so unexpectedly in June of 2009 and how they have been coping with the tragic event.

In the documentary, Jackson’s kids say they had very little knowledge of what went on in the real world, growing up in the high-security pop star’s California mansion, Neverland.

The documentary is made by the family’s matriarch, Katherine Jackson and it tells all about what life was behind the walls of the famous residence.

Paris Jackson, who was recently admitted to rehab for emotional problems says:

“There are a lot of bad people out there (…) (but he) always wanted a taste normal life (…) We didn’t know a lot of kids our age. We were more secluded, we never left the ranch that often.”

Paris also reveals her dad had made her one promise he never got to keep.

“He promised he would teach me how to moonwalk but never got around to it. I really hope his legacy lives on forever. I will never forget him ever. He was amazing.”

The filming of the Michael Jackson documentary came just weeks before Paris attempted suicide at the family estate.

TMZ reported in November, that the teen is staying at a Utah boarding school , in an effort to help her deal with all the emotional issues she suffers from and is making progress, but will probably stay there for a long time.

Her brother Prince Jackson, said that he didn’t really know who Michael Jackson was until he was about six-years-old.

“He never really wanted to tell us who he is as a person. It took me until I was six years old to learn his name was Michael Jackson – he was always Daddy to me and that was it.”

For Prince Michael II, known as Blanket, the memories are about the cool thing his famous father had at the ranch.

“He had like a zoo, basically. He had giraffes, lions. He had alligators and snakes,” he recalled of Micheal Jackson. “You probably heard of it, but he had a chimp named Bubbles.”

It has been four years since Michael Jackson died, following an overdose of the sedative Propofol, administered by cardiologist Dr. Conrad Murray , who was released from prison earlier this year, after completing a 2-year jail sentence for involuntary manslaughter.
