Salt Lake City, UT — Mia Love seems to be getting a lot of, well, love in her campaign to represent Utah’s new 4th Congressional District in Washington.

A poll just released by the Salt Lake Tribune , shows Love, the Republican, with a commanding 52 percent to 40 percent lead over the Democrat, six-term Congressman Jim Matheson, who currently represents an adjoining district. The poll also suggests that female voters support Love by a slightly larger margin of 54 percent to 38 percent.

Love, 37, is the mayor of nearby Saratoga Springs, and the daughter of Haitian immigrants.

According to the Tribune , in her campaign for the US House of Representatives, Mia Love is receiving support across the board at the expense of career politician Matheson:

“The Tribune poll, conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, found that the coalition of Democrats, independents, moderate Republicans and women that Matheson has united in past elections is failing to coalesce this time around, with just 9 percent of Republicans crossing over to support him.”

Love is also benefiting from Mitt Romney’s coattails (see video below) since the GOP presidential nominee is expected to win big in Utah.

Love’s victory on Tuesday could make history, according to the Tribune : “If Love wins the seat, she would become the first black Republican woman in Congress and the first black representative from Utah.”

Love developed a national following in part after the inspirational speech that she gave at the Republican National Convention in August.

Mitt Romney recently cut a campaign video for Mia Love for Congress:
