Beverly Hills, CA – Mekhi Phifer is married. The 38-year-old actor, who is best known for playing Dr. Greg Pratt on ER and David Porter in 8 Mile , tied the knot with Reshelet Barnes on Saturday in Beverly Hills.
Mekhi Phifer and Reshelet Barnes married at the exclusive Montage Hotel, E! News reports. A gathering of more than 100 friends and family congregated on an outdoor terrace to watch the couple exchange vows. E! notes that Mekhi’s son walked down the aisle with a Chihuahua on a leash.
E! adds that Mehki arrived at the ceremony sporting a flash white suit. As he headed down the aisle, he was accompanied by the sound of Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon in the Sky.”
The bride chose a slightly more traditional number, coming down the aisle to “Here Comes the Bride.” A source at the wedding told E! :
“When she made her entrance into the courtyard, Mekhi was completely overcome with emotion and you could tell she took his breath away. He had to wipe tears from his eyes for several minutes.”
Once the happy couple had exchanged rings, they took part in a special sand ceremony beneath an altar of yellow flowers. A standing ovation from the watching crowd put the cherry on the proverbial cake.
This is Mekhi’s second time down the aisle, having previously been married to Malinda Williams from 1999 through 2003. They have a son together, and the actor has another son from a prior relationship with Oni Souratha.
