Max Gilardi, 38, popularly known as hotdiggedydemon on YouTube, revealed on a live stream that he will be considering doctor-assisted euthanasia in Switzerland. Known for his animated parodies of popular IPs like Five Nights at Freddy’s and My Little Pony, Gilardi revealed that he had had a series of health issues, including fibromyalgia, which results in chronic pain throughout the body, in 2024.

Regarding the YouTube animator’s decision, he said, “After considering every option I could think of, ultimately that solution has taken the form of doctor-assisted euthanasia.”
Gilardi’s video production schedule has slowed considerably since his diagnosis, and the creator also revealed that he has had a slew of medical issues that doctors have ot been able to explain.
The YouTuber said, “I’m tired all the time. I spend a lot of my time lying down. I get a lot of bad pain in all my joints and my muscles, ankles, shins, hands, knees, hips, and neck. I have a lot of difficulty sleeping.”
Gilardi stated that euthanasia is legal in Switzerland. However, under Swiss law, direct active euthanasia remains illegal; however, medically assisted suicide is permitted. The key distinction lies in who administers the lethal dose: in assisted suicide, the patient must perform the act themselves, whereas in euthanasia, a physician administers it.
