Matt Leinart helped lead his team to a 20-13 victory on Sunday but now the Houston Texans quarterback could be out for the rest of the season following an injury to his left shoulder.

Following their win over the Jacksonville Jaguars coach Gary Kubiak said post-game X-rays were inconclusive while Leinart later added that there is a “pretty good possibility I won’t be coming back this season.”

Further speaking about his worries for the seasons remaining games Leinart added:

“It’s pretty disappointing. It’s tough to swallow, but we’ll just move forward.”

Leinart continued:

“Everything that’s happened to me, this was a great opportunity. … It’s unfortunate, but I’m not going to give up. It’s not my nature. I’ll just keep moving forward and figure this thing out one step at a time.”

At this time all signs are pointing to a broken collarbone although team doctors will not be certain until Monday when more tests are completed.

Leinart sustained his injury when he was hit by Jeremy Mincey in the second quarter, landing on his shoulder before heading to the sideline.

After taking over for the Texans T.J. Yates replaced the teams QB1 and drove his team into position for a field goal and a 20-10 halftime lead.

Matt was making his first NFL start in two years, replacing Matt Schaub who is out for the season with a foot injury.

Before sustaining his injury Leinart was 10 of 13 passes for 57 yards and one touchdown to Joel Dreessen.

Do you think the Texans still compete with their QB3 taking over duties at this time. The Texans will likely search for a free agent willing to lead the team for the remainder of their games.
