Robert Spearing and his wife traveled from Canada to Chicago where they hoped to watch the final taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show, w hen the couple arrived in Chicago Robert was not able to obtain the tickets and concocted a mugging story to his wife to cover up his actions.
Spearing told police that he was mugged and his tickets were stolen, to make his story convincing Robert cut his own forehead with a rock and scratched his hands on the sidewalk.
The 44-Year-old Canadian who eventually confessed to his actions now faces a felony charge for filing a fake police report and must appear in court next Tuesday.
