A nunchucks-wielding Massachusetts man allegedly struck his 67-year-old mother in the head because she wouldn’t give him cash to buy booze.
The woman fled to a neighbor’s home and called 911.
According to a prosecutor, the suspect “had been swinging martial arts nunchucks around, damaging property in the home, demanded money in order to purchase alcohol. He struck her in the head with the nunchucks.”
One of the responding police officers was bitten by the man’s pit bull. The suspect subsequently barricaded himself in the house, and SWAT officers deployed to the area. “[He] was observed at one point outside the residence wearing a red bandanna around his face and what appeared to be a camouflage jacket. Police said he was acting agitated, nervous and said that he wanted to die.”
At one point, the man came out of the house and allegedly pointed a handgun at cops. Officers fired shot shots as the man retreated back into the residence. About a half hour later, he reportedly surrendered to a police hostage negotiator.
Paramedics treated his mother at the scene, and fortunately she was not seriously injured. After being taken into custody, the suspect, age 31, was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
In searching the residence in Dudley, Mass., police found additional martial arts weapons and other items. The suspect does not have a handgun license.
The suspect faces multiple charges in this recent incident including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person 60 or over, assault on a police officer, and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
In something along the lines of a reversal of the above incident, as The Inquisitr previously reported, a Memphis grandmother was charged with domestic assault after she allegedly slapped her granddaughter for refusing to go on a beer run on New Years Day.
