London Hotel Turns Samsung Galaxy S III Into Room Key, Remote Control

The Holiday Inn London Stafford City is doing away with room keys if you happen to be using a Samsung Galaxy S III for the duration of your stay. The test location has rolled out a system that combines a visitors keycard, TV remote and room controls into a mobile friendly offering.

Located next to the Olympic Park where the 2012 London Olympics are currently underway the hotels program came about from a partnership with Samsung and Enterprise Alliance Program partner Fingi Inc. According to the company’s involved the idea was to create an “end-to-end hotel hospitality solution.”

The new system works by installing a special app on the users Galaxy S III which can access one of 40 rooms at the hotel, allow visitors to order room service, request laundry services and even book facilities inside the hotel.

The Galaxy S III smartphone can even control the TV, turn lighting up and down inside the room, adjust air conditioning and operate other devices attached to the system.

Visitors to the Olympic Games will even find localized content for the summer event and updates for each competition.

The Galaxy S III hotel phone system even allows users to receive in-room phone extension calls directly to their smartphone based device.

Samsung has been working tirelessly to integrate its devices into hotels, the Samsung Galaxy S II saw similar functionality at the Aloft Hotel in Bangkok.

According to Samsung Tomorrow in Vancouver, Canada one hotel is offering iPhone user to customers as they explore the city and their own hotel rooms.
