LeAnn Rimes opened up about her affair Eddie Cibrian during an interview with Katie Couric. The segment will air on 20/20 on Thursday at 9 pm. Excerpts from the emotional conversation published by Radar Online showcase the country music star recalling what she reportedly considers one of the most difficult times in her life.
When Rimes and Cibrian began dating, they were both married to other people. Eddie has two young boys with his then-wife, Brandi Glanville . The Nashville singing star was married to Dean Sheremet when she and Cibrian first began developing feelings for one another.
The country star had this to say to Katie Couric about the affair with a married man:
“I wasn’t sure if I was wishing myself well at the time. It was very, very difficult. Um … I wouldn’t wish it on anyone … especially in the public eye to go through all of it.”
The affair did not remain secret for long, prompting what has become a prolonged Twitter battle between supporters and opponents of Rimes. The stress and anxiety stemming from the very public admonishments about allegedly being the cause of Eddie’s divorce reportedly prompted the recent rehab stay.
When Couric asked LeAnn about her 30-day stint in a residential treatment facility, the country singer had this to say:
“I made my choices, you know? I made my choices and I’m living with them. I also have learned from them and I’ve talked about this so much. But I know that … I’m not the only person that goes through this. There’s so many that do. And there’s so much on the new album that I do share.”
