Officials in Webster, Massachusetts have agreed to change the spelling of signs leading to a local lake after it was discovered that the name had been spelled incorrectly.

The Webster-Dudley-Oxford Chamber of Commerce agreed to amend two signs leading to Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, as there was an “o” where a “u” should be, at letter 20, and an “h” instead of “n” at letter 38, according to local media .

Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, sometimes abbreviated to Lake Chaubunagungamaug, is located near the Connecticut border and is often cited as having the longest place name in the United States and one of the longest in the world. Although signs reflect the full name, locals simply refer to the lake as Lake Webster.
