A man has been arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly posting a threat on Facebook about shooting up a local elementary school.
The LA Times reports that Los Angeles police arrested 24-year-old Kyle Bangayan, of Pomona, at his parent’s home in East Hollywood. Police officers seized nine guns from the home and booked Bangayan on suspicion of making criminal threats.
KTLA reports that Bangayan threatened to shoot up several L.A. area elementary schools. The LAPD did not identify the schools that were threatened in the Facebook post but did say that Bangayan referenced the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting.
Police are taking the threats very seriously but WHBF notes that most students in the Los Angeles Unified School District are already out on winter break.
Bangayan is currently being held on $50,000.
Sadly, this isn’t the only incident that has police worried today. Several Connecticut schools were put under lockdown today after police received reports of a “ suspicious person ” with a gun in the area. A man in Bristol, Conn. was arrested for making threats against a school and on Sunday police arrested a man with 47 guns after he threatened to shoot up an elementary school.
