Kodak today announced the arrival of two new HD pocket video cameras, the Kodak Playfull (yes with two LL’s) and Kodak Playsport.

Both camera’s offer several similar functions, including autofocus, digital image stabilization and smart face-tracking. They also both offer 1080p HD video with 5-megapixel still photos and a dedicated share button with built-in software for sharing via USB with your PC or Mac, allowing for social network sharing on Facebook , Twitter, Flickr and YouTube along with several international social networking websites.

Both camera’s also come equipped with basic camera effects such as sepia, black and white and 70s film looks, while their SD/SDHC card slots can hold up to 32GB worth of files.

While many similarities can be seen, there are several differences, the Playfull offers an ultraslim design that comes with a USB arm for in-camera charging, while offered in silver, blue-silver, purple-silver and blue-black.

On the other hand, the Playsport is designed for low-light performance (the LCD will auto change to match low light conditions), while allowing for a shockproof, dustproof and waterproof design (up to a depth of 10 feet). The color options also differ, with this model being offered in black, red, green, white and aqua.

Priced at $150 for the Playfull and $180 for the Playsport, you’ll be able to pick up both units at Kodak.com and through various national retailers this Spring 2011. Hopefully we’ll catch these units at CES 2011 in just a few short days.

What do you think? Worth a closer look? For the part-time videographer, it might be the perfect well priced option for quick record capabilities.
