Apparently the 72 days she spent as a married woman have taken a toll on Kim Kardashian, as the reality show star has canceled the second leg of her Australia tour.
Kardashian has come in for some criticism following her decision to divorce husband Kris Humphries after just two months and change of wedded bliss. The celebutante and the NBA star reportedly spent $10 million on the lavish party and made a couple of million more on selling the rights to pictures, video, footage and everything else that went along with the ceremony. But the quickie marriage and divorce has not gone over well with fans and celeb news followers, and the news has spurred a backlash against Kardashian after it broke earlier this week.
Kardashian says it was “intuition” that prompted her to split from Humphries, and she reportedly turned down $150,000 to appear at an upcoming event in Melbourne (which is, let’s face it, chump change to the reality TV staple) in order to spend time alone. A rep for the actress says:
“She went to Australia to honor her commitments. However, during this very difficult time she felt it’d be best to return home to close friends and family.”
Initially, Kim felt going to Australia despite the media firestorm was the best way to handle the situation. She told hosts of the morning show Sunrise :
“I think when you know so deep in your heart that you just have to listen to your intuition, and follow your heart… There’s no right or wrong thing to do… Of course I do want some time to myself, and it’s a really tough thing to go through, but I didn’t want to bail on everyone.”
Kim said it was “sad” she had to deal with allegations that she and Humphries wed just for the large payday from broadcasting the wedding on E! .
