Daniel Gibson, 27, husband of singer-songwriter Keyshia Cole, is in trouble. He was arrested in New Orleans on Monday, July 29, for assault and battery, according to a story filed by TMZ .
He told TMZ what happened: “Earlier this month during the Essence Music Festival, I was involved in an incident with other individuals while I was out with my wife.” he went on: “It’s unfortunate that some see opportunity in taking advantage of people who work hard for what they have achieved.”
Gibson, who was a professional Basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers, went to the New Orleans Police Department on Monday, and surrendered himself. He said,”Once all the facts of the incident come out….I expect to be fully vindicated.”
Neither Gibson, Keyshia, nor the N.O.P.D, have given any more details of the incident, but the rumor, or allegation, is that Gibson punched a man and broke his jaw .
Keyshia and Daniel were married in May 2011, and have a three-year-old son. In September they repeated their vows for their BET reality show: ‘Keyshia and Daniel: Family First.’
Keyshia, 32, has had a successful career until now, not only as an R&B singer, but also as a record producer. She has recorded five hit albums, some of which went platinum. In addition she starred in the record breaking reality/documentary series: ‘Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is’, which aired on BET from 2006-2008.
