Emerging details of the plans for the streamed funeral are being leaked just a day before the family lays Whitney Houston’s body to rest.
The Bodyguard co-star and estranged friend, Kevin Costner, is just one of many people said to be attending the funeral of late singer Whitney Houston. It is now said that Costner will be speaking at Houston’s funeral at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ where the singer was born.
The ceremony will also host a number of performances from Houston’s close friends, including singer Stevie Wonder, and Godmother to Whitney, Aretha Franklin. As previously reported, ex-husband Bobby Brown will indeed attend the funeral but will not perform. Instead, he plans on performing with his group New Edition that evening who were touring at the time of Whitney’s death. Brown will rejoin New Edition Thursday night for a performance in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, according to a New Edition publicist.
Gospel singer and friend of Whitney Houston Marvin Winans will be giving her eulogy, and had the following to say to CNN anchor Anderson Cooper about the media coverage of the singer’s death and past tumultuous struggle with addiction.
“Since her death we’re fighting off news agencies simply because they don’t understand that we lost a sister. This isn’t a break or opportunity, we are really hurting and seriously grieving. It amazes me the insensitivity in the media when it comes to things like this. It’s someone that was there and now you can no longer speak to them. Maybe you didn’t tell them that you loved them. Maybe you would have done things differently…you have to reconcile all those things in yourself. “
Whitney Houston,48, passed away at the Beverly Hills Hotel on the eve of the Grammys. Sources have reported that she was found by her entourage unconscious in a bathtub.
