Katie Couric, 54, has broken up with boyfriend Brooks Perlin, a business entrepreneur 17 years her junior.
Couric and Perlin met in 2006 while attending a cancer research fundraiser.
The breakup comes after Couric stepped down from her CBS Evening News show in May to focus on a soon to debut syndicated daytime talk show called Katie ( debuting in September 2012 ) .
Katie and Brooks appeared to be on the outs for months, in May she hinted at their problems with People when she said:
“I am in the process of figuring out the future, and so is he. I am really happy in my personal life … but it is complicated.”
At one point Couric compared herself and Brooks to the relationship of Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, noting:
“I’ve been called all kinds of things. I’ve been ‘cougared,’ which was just obnoxious. But it’s good enough for Demi, right?”
We all know how Ashton and Demi ended up so perhaps it isn’t a surprise the Couric’s relationship ended as well.
