Kate Middleton left her husband at home to take 150 kids to a stage play on Friday.
The story goes : the Duchess of Cambridge left Prince William at Kensington Palace (a big, expensive place that royalty calls home). That’s fine, because William is sitting in front of the television with a six pack watching England’s European Cup match, so he can’t be bothered. So Kate rounded up 150 kids from one of her numerous charities, The Art Room, to see a small production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe in Kensington Gardens. For clarity, Kensington Gardens is basically Kate Middleton’s back yard.
The kids were from six different schools in the London and Oxford area linked with the charity. The Art Room helps kids by offering art therapy to students with emotional and behavioral issues. Kate Middleton became the Royal Patron back in January.
The stage adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe runs through the summer, produced and performed by acclaimed company Threesixty. It is performed on a circular stage, with the voice of Aslan provided by actor David Suchet, reports Daily Mail .
During the break, Kate Middleton asked the kids about what jumped out at them about the play so far. “Did you see all the animals on stilts and wasn’t Lucy cute?” she asked one group. Turning to another, she added, “Wasn’t it amazing? I just loved the way it is held in a tent. Really clever,” continuing, “Some of the characters are really quite frightening. I hope you don’t get too scared,” even joking, “What I really want to know is have any of you tried turkish delight?” referring to the temptation of Edmund Pevensie by the evil White Witch.
Kate Middleton and the charity kids mingled with the cast after the show. Art Room founder Juli Beattie said that the kids were “thrilled” by the invitation and hadn’t seen a stage show before.
