Kate Middleton Gives First Solo TV Interview For Queen’s Birthday, Picks Up Obligations From The Monarch

Kate Middleton has given her first television interview since becoming a royal back in 2011, when she married Prince William.

The Duchess was joined by a number of elite members of the royal family, each being asked to give interviews for a film that is to be dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II as a tribute to the monarch on her upcoming 90th birthday.

The only other time Middleton was involved in an on-camera interview was back before her nuptials in November, 2010, which was the same day that she became engaged to Prince William.

After experiencing a number of years during which she fulfilled royal duties and has made countless appearances, Kate has also been brushing up on her public speaking skills, which will no doubt be effective in allowing the beautiful royal to give a seamless interview.

The Duchess of Cambridge will be joined in the film by her husband (Prince William), the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Prince of Wales, along with a number of other international royal figures.

E! Online relays the expectations of the royals within the film via the words of Jo Clinton-Davis, ITV’s controller of factual and the individual responsible for co-commissioning the film.

“It’s a remarkable story of an extraordinary life which in so many ways reflects the changing face of the nation. As she reaches her 90th birthday, this film aims to offer a fresh insight into our monarch’s life and work.”

The film is set to air this coming May, just following the April 11 milestone birthday of the Queen. Nick Kent executive producer for Oxford Film and Television also noted his appreciation for the royals who took part in helping to make the film what it is.

“We’ve been fortunate to have the participation of so many members of the royal family to mark this historic milestone in the life of the Queen.”

Ahead of her 90th birthday, Queen Elizabeth has evidently been attempting to lighten her workload. It can’t be argued that the long-reigning monarch deserves a bit of a breather. Who better than to pick up the slack than the Duchess that had previously earned a reputation of being a bit lazy and all about image? That’s right, Kate Middleton is taking over a duty or two for the Queen. One of which includes the Queen’s Wimbledon patronage.

The Huffington Postshares about the newly-acquired sporty duty of Kate.

“[The Queen] will be passing the task of sports patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to none other than Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, after 64 years of loyal patronage. The club plays host the Wimbledon championships and it’s expected that the Queen will officially announce the change at the championships this summer.”

Surely Kate won’t mind snapping up this duty from the Queen, seeing as the Duchess is always present at the events to begin with. Kate has completely picked up the slack over the past year after gaining the aforementioned negative reputation. Middleton, now a mother of two, has managed to become a strong advocate on the issue of children’s mental health and education, while carrying on in making the necessary royal appearances at various events and engagements.

Prince Harry has likewise picked up an additional duty from the Queen — one involving a sport that he is an avid player of. The Huffington Post recounts the change.

“Prince Harry will take over his grandmother’s post as patron of the Rugby Football Union, the official rugby association in England, where he’s been contributing since 2010.”

Surely the 90th year for the Queen will involve just as much hard work as always, but a lighter work load seems fitting at this point in life.
