Kanye West avoids Keeping Up With the Kardashians (and really, all cameras ) like the plague, and now we know why. In a recent interview, Ye simply admitted that he shies away from the show because he’s just tired of the backlash.
“It’s hard when people read things in a lot of different ways ,” he tells the New York Times . “You know, the amount of backlash I got from it is when I decided to not be on the show anymore. And it’s not that I have an issue with the show; I just have an issue with the amount of backlash that I get.”
The backlash he is referring to came after his first couple of appearances on the Kardashian reality show , particularly one episode where he rummaged through Kim’s closet and called some of her clothing “ghetto.”
West also said that part of the reason he avoids the media is that he wants to keep some semblance of privacy for himself and his family.
“I would do anything to protect my child or my child’s mother. As simple as that… I just don’t want to talk to America about my family. Like, this is my baby. This isn’t America’s baby.”
But that doesn’t stop the media from prying into his personal life and even making stuff up, like the recent report that suggested he wasn’t even interested in being present for the birth of his own child . Come on now, gossip media.
West was also in the news recently after Canadian model Leyla Ghobadi claimed that the rapper had cheated on Kim Kardashian with her . A rep for Kanye West denied Ghobadi’s claims and accused her of seeking publicity.
“This most recent attack on Kanye West and his family is totally without merit. It’s a blatant attempt by a misguided individual who is clearly seeking publicity, and another in a series of malicious stories drummed up by non-credible ‘news’ sources,” the rep said.
Still, she maintains that she’s telling the truth and is just looking out for Kim.
“This is going to destroy the Kardashian family,” Ghobadi told Star magazine. “It’s bad. It’s really bad. It’s just embarrassing. But if I were Kim and about to have a baby, I would want to know.”
Protip for Ghobadi: You should probably tell a publication with more respectability than Star .
