It looks like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez spent time together in Canada at some point last week and over the weekend during 40th birthday celebrations for Justin’s dad, Jeremy. That is, according to an initial tweet by one of the guests at the family bash.

Some are already calling it a Jelena reunion. But, amid an overblown “racism” debacle was it more of a mercy mission?
According to an initial tweet posted by guest Victoria Nosko on Sunday, expressing thanks to the Biebers, Gomez and others for an “awesome b day weekend,” Selena was in Canada at the Muskoka, Ontario, cottage mentioned in Jeremy’s tweets and friends’ .
Understandably, the on-again, off-again pair are giving nothing away online.
This is a fraught time for Bieber after a racism storm exploded around him, in the wake of The Sun’ s tabloid’s publication of two videos of him making racial slurs as a child years ago.
But, when the going got tough for Justin, it looks like Selena got going all the way to Canada and was by her former beau’s side while the “Is Justin Bieber a racist?” pile-on raged.
After Nosko posted a June 8 thank you tweet, possibly tellingly she deleted the tweet shortly afterwards then tweeted that she had mistakenly included the wrong name.

The jury’s out on whether Nosko was trying to avoid exactly the kind of assumptive “Bieber is back with Gomez” media coverage happening now, or whether her name slip explanation is genuine.
But a helluva lot of people got a screengrab.

Nosko then put a replacement tweet up with Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette’s, name in place of Selena’s.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, May 7, Hollywood Life ran a story claiming a purported source said Selena is wildly “angry” with Justin.
“One thing Justin used to always throw in her [Selena’s] face when they fought was how much he helped her career,” it’s claimed a source confided.
Other reports claim Gomez is angry with Bieber over the pregnancy/miscarriage rumor that was reported by In Touch Weekly magazine last month and promptly slammed as false by the starlet’s rep.
Logic asks, why wouldn’t the Disney alum just be angry at the gossip site as her remark to a Nepal journalist about seeking “mental peace” from the US media during her recent UNICEF trip suggests?
As for Selena supposedly fuming over old, alleged resentments of Justin, the former couple’s highly probable getaway in Canada appears to negate that.
Justin also “Liked” one of Gomez’s Instagram snaps on June 4, which was the actual date of Jeremy’s birthday . Incidentally, Bieber Sr. is now following Selena on Instagram.
All adding up? It’s something .
On Monday, Justin tweeted that he is ready for “New beginnings (sic).”

Since the events of last week, the 20-year-old has apologized twice for racial slurs made as a child and a few celebrities have spoken up for him – including his mentor Usher .
