On Friday, January 8th 2009 the Paris Ballroom at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas hosted the Monster Retailer Awards, honoring the top sales companies (retailer and distribution) of Monster products. Shortly following a performance touted as “John Legend and Special Guests” took place and it was a magical evening.
Legend began the show, performing hits from all three of his grammy award winning albums (Legend has won 6 grammys) and he was joined after several songs by his brother Vaugh Anthony (who is signed to Legends label) before finally being joined by musical legend Stevie Wonder to cap off the night. Wonder flew out to Vegas solely for the purpose of singing in the finale with Legend, showing once again the respect musicians have for Monsters audio/visual equipment.
Lady Gaga even broadcasted a quick video greet from her concert venue in Denver, Colorado to thank Monster teams around the world for their efforts and to thank Monster for their support. GaGa is a “True Monster” said “Head Monster” Noel Lee, reminding the crowd that she calls her fans “Monsters” and even named her tour “Monster Ball.” Her HeartBeats by Lady GaGa earbuds debuts earlier this week at a Monster press conference.
Overall it was a great performance and a top notch event for the team at Monster. Then again it’s not hard to hold a top notch event when Stevie Wonder is your guest of honor.
