Joey Feek, of the country music duo Joey and Rory, has been fighting a fierce battle with cancer over the past year. She’s become very weak and can no longer get out of the bed, but still doesn’t give up hope for a miracle.
Since her diagnosis, Joey’s husband and duet partner, Rory Feek, has been documenting her battle on his blog, This Life I Live , sharing precious memories, both old and new, along with regular updates on his wife’s condition. Rory also shares updates on their official Facebook page, and on Monday he revealed some incredibly exciting news: their version of the song “If I Needed You” has been nominated for a Grammy award for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

Joey and Rory used the song as the background music when they made a video of their daughter Indiana’s birth. They never thought that it would be nominated for such a prestigious award.
“Woke my bride up this morning with a baby in my arms and the news that our version of ‘If I Needed You’ was nominated for a Grammy,” Rory wrote. “As her excitement and tears flowed into mine. She said, ‘how can that be?’ ”
“… the song received no radio airplay… no press… no critical acclaim… and the only music video we made for it was to celebrate the day our little Indiana was born. God is so good. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014, three months after giving birth to her daughter, Indiana. After her initial diagnosis, Joey underwent a radical hysterectomy and rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. She seemed to be doing better. However, after undergoing another PET scan in mid-October, Joey’s doctors discovered that her cancer had not only returned, but had metastatized to her colon. Because there was nothing left for the doctors to do, Joey made the decision, with the help of her family, to enter hospice care, and live out the rest of her days surrounded by those she loves the most.
Joey and Rory’s fans have been following their story over the past year, and have become inspired by Joey’s unwavering faith and will to live. Thousands of fans held a candle light vigil in honor of Joey, and others have sent, and continued to send, cards and gifts with words of encouragement. On Friday, December 4, Rory wrote a blog post titled “it’s Christmas time,” where he shared their fan’s most recent act of kindness.
“When I got back to the house, Joey’s sisters and I opened the bag and realized that those nice folks had bought and wrapped 25 separate presents (they’re all different books I think) for Indiana to open … one each day from December 1st, all the way through Christmas. What a beautiful, thoughtful thing to do.”
