Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo are living by their own set of rules, not the strict standards set by former 19 Kids and Counting stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. However, fans might be surprised to learn how the conservative Christian parents of 19 have reportedly reacted to Jinger wearing pants and remaining childless during her first year of marriage.
Many fans of the Duggar family believe that Jim Bob and Michelle must be shocked and appalled that Jinger ditched her family’s dress code soon after she married her husband, Texas preacher Jeremy Vuolo. Her parents believe that women should only wear dresses and skirts, which they consider to be “feminine apparel.” Jim Bob and Michelle have also said that they don’t use birth control because they see children as “blessings” from God. Jinger is the only Duggar daughter who has not gotten pregnant with such a “blessing” during her first year of marriage, so some fans believe that she and Jeremy are going against her parents’ beliefs by using some form of birth control.
Even though Jinger Duggar has added multiple pairs of pants to her wardrobe and may be purposely delaying pregnancy, a family insider insists that her parents aren’t angry or upset with her for doing things differently from her mother and sisters. This is allegedly because she and Jeremy aren’t actively campaigning against the Duggar way of life.
“They aren’t attacking their family’s belief system,” the insider told Radar Online . “The family doesn’t mind at all. They are thrilled to see them push out on their own.”
In an old TLC blog post, Michelle Duggar explained that she expects her daughters to follow her rules as long as they’re living under her roof. However, she also revealed that it wouldn’t hurt her feelings or cause her any alarm if the girls and their husbands eventually set their own standards to live by.
“I’ve told my daughters this has been a joyful journey for me to learn what my Lord has called me to. This is the direction that God has led me as your mother, and you’re in the family,” Michelle wrote . “My girls and their future spouses are going to have that journey in their lives, too. Because my girls are working with the Lord, they have a relationship with God and they will determine what that means for them. And it may be a different journey than mine and that’s okay.”
It’s clear that the Duggars have not shunned Jinger and Jeremy for daring to be different; the couple has attended the weddings of both Joseph and Joy-Anna Duggar, and the Duggar family even helped Jeremy promote his mother’s music ministry on Facebook. However, while the family insider claims that Jinger and Jeremy have not attacked the Duggars’ belief system, this isn’t completely true. As previously reported by the Inquisitr , Jeremy Vuolo has preached against legalistic Christians like Jim Bob and Michelle who place a great deal of importance on abiding by strict and excessive rules and restrictions. He believes that women should be allowed to wear pants, and he also sees nothing wrong with Christians having an occasional glass of wine. However, Jinger’s parents have said that their family does not drink alcohol.
Jinger and Jeremy have reportedly been attacked by some fans who are unhappy with them for failing to be just like Michelle and Jim Bob, but the Counting On couple is going to keep blazing their own trail.
“They are their own people,” said the Duggar family insider of Jinger and Jeremy. “They aren’t just clones. They have their own set of beliefs.”
