Jessica Lange, who stole more than her fair share of scenes when she appeared on the popular FX drama American Horror Story, took home a statuette for Best Supporting Actress In A Miniseries or Movie at the 64th Annual Emmy Awards on Sunday night. According to The Star-Ledger , the actress has also received accolades for her performance in the program from the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild.

Although producers of the series have described the program as a TV drama, the masterminds working behind-the-scenes at the Emmys decided to place the show in the miniseries category. Labeling the series in such a way is a little baffling, especially considering that the show is scheduled to return this October.

Fortunately for Jessica Lange and American Horror Story fans, the acclaimed actress will return to the show during its second season. Series creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk confirmed Lange’s involvement with Entertainment Weekly back in March, a revelation that will surely delight those who enjoyed her turn on the chilling FX drama.

Unfamiliar with American Horror Story ? Wikipedia explains that the first season of the show is “centered on the Harmon family: Ben, Vivien and their daughter Violet, who move from Boston to Los Angeles after Vivien had a miscarriage and Ben had an affair. They move into a restored mansion, unaware that the home is haunted by its former inhabitants.” Jessica Lange portrays Constance Langdon, a nefarious Southerne Belle who once lived in the house occupied by the family.

The second season, which has been dubbed American Horror Story: Asylum , will reportedly take place inside an asylum, hence the alteration to the title. Despite the shift in setting, Jessica Lange will return once again to send chills down the spines of viewers as Constance Langdon. The premiere is set for October 17 on FX.

Are you a fan of Jessica Lange’s performance in American Horror Story ? Do you think she deserved to win Best Supporting Actress In A Miniseries or Movie at the 64th Annual Emmy Awards?
