Actress Jessica Biel has been working on an idea for a restaurant that caters specifically to children, as well as adults. Her new venture Au Fudge opens March 4 on Tony Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, and it is a family-friendly restaurant aiming to relieve the stress of parents dining with their children. And from the looks of it, Au Fudge looks quite comfortable.
Jessica Biel wasn’t a mother when she first came up with the idea for Au Fudge, but after having her son Silas with husband Justin Timberlake, she used her new family dining experiences to inspire this new restaurant. The layout of Au Fudge looks to be incredibly creative and fun. There is a secret spiral staircase that leads to a tree house, with shibori-dyed floor pillows everywhere and other St. Frank eclectic textiles, as well as some nice stuffed animals. There is a playroom available for the little ones, as well as an arcade, a patio, and small toilets perfectly-built for children.
Jessica Biel discussed how it can feel going out to eat being a parent and bringing your kids along, and a lot of the time it can be a bit frustrating.
“Since he’s so little still and I’m still kind of learning how I do it in a very smooth and like elegant way, it’s terrifying,” Biel told E! News . “You get to a place, you want to make sure the diners around you are not being bothered, you’re full of anxiety, you’re trying to go as fast as you can — you don’t enjoy it at all.”
Stanley took it upon herself to search long and hard for the food and gifts that would be sold in the front market, taking her hours to pick everything out. It is all organic and environmentally friendly. There is nontoxic gold glitter paint used in the spiral staircase, which was mixed by Jessica Biel’s cousin. They will also be selling gallon paint cans.
There are areas specifically for adults, like the beautiful marble bar that comes with a fantastic wine list as well as a mixology program. Some additional good news, the bar is open in the late a.m. hours. The chef is James King, who has made sure all of the food is organic, sourced locally, seasonal and he’s gone out of his way to make sure patrons’ allergies are taken into consideration when preparing the food.
“We want to have a place where I want to bring my kids, or I want to bring my girlfriends,” Jessica added.
Au Fudge’s menu consists mainly of organic food. Jessica Biel has been working on the menu in particular for a while, and has had at least 20 different tastings with her partners.
“When you come around the corner and they’ve been hanging out with someone else, and he or she sees you and their face lights up,” Jessica Biel said, smiling. “If you’re in a bad mood or if something’s got you — I mean, at least for me, you just forget about it. I’m like, ‘This little dude is happy I’m here right now.'”
