Many users will be asking “is Facebook down” tonight. Unfortunately, it’s not just you that is being blocked from accessing the social media outlet to all your virtual friends. The Facebook server problems seems to be a worldwide phenomenon.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Gmail suffered some outages that could also bring down Google Chrome , causing a crash. This inspired some little bit of suffering for this writer when he was in the middle of writing an article just to see that sad Chrome face. The Facebook outage started attracting attention around 5:45pm EST Monday. This was noticeable even on The Inquisitr’s page, as the like buttons and commenting system went AWOL.

According to Mashable , Facebook spokesperson sent the following statement: “Earlier today we made a change to our DNS infrastructure and that change resulted in some people being temporarily unable to reach the site. We detected and resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 percent. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Earlier this day Downforeveryoneorjustme.com, a website that tracks websites that aren’t working, had an interesting response when you typed in Facebook.com. A page came up that says “Huh? http://facebook.com doesn’t look like a site on the interwho.” Interesting.

This server change affected the entire world. Reports had Facebook down throughout Europe, with user complaints streaming in from the UK, Germany, and Italy. Even further corners of the world felt the effects of the Facebook outage, including Brazil, Indonesia, and Holland.

At this moment Facebook seems to be working for at least me. Not sure about the rest of the world. Were you one of many asking “Is Facebook down?”
