Apple released a small updated version of iOS 5.0.1 for the iPhone 4S today as well as the also small 4.4.4 update for Apple TV.
Despite releasing the updated version of iOS 5.0.1, users who had already updated their iPhone 4S to 5.0.1 won’t be prompted for an update; but if you haven’t updated your iPhone 4S in awhile, you’ll be able to download the updated version.
Apple didn’t provide any release notes for what the updated version of iOS 5.0.1 changed or added, but an iOS hacker noticed that the updated version has decrypted RAM disks, meaning that, if you were so inclined (and capable), you could extract the files necessary to legally port Siri to another device, iDownloadBlog reports .
The Apple TV 4.4.4 update is less exciting, but it does add in “general performance and stability improvements, including a fix for an issue that displayed an error when playing some video content,” according to the changelog .
Apple is said to be hard at work on iOS 5.1, but the company has yet to provide a timeline on when that will be rolled out to the general public.
