Are you ever curious who in the tech world is considered to be a mover and shaker? Well for the most part neither am but the folks over Internet Evolution went to their readers to see what they had to say about the matter.

Now apparently after much debate they have released their Top 100 spread across 10 categories:

  • Social Networking
  • Enterprise & Cloud Computing
  • News/Media
  • Greentech
  • Wireless & Gadgets
  • E-Commerce
  • Search
  • Security
  • Digital Entertainment
  • Most Over-Rated

You can peruse the listings over on their site but just for yucks lets see who some of the biggies are in a couple of the sections. Of course the top 5 in Social Media shouldn’t be any surprise with Mark Zuckerberg taking top spot followed by Kevin Rose (Digg), Jonathan Miller (News Corp./MySpace), Philip Rosendale (Second Life), and Jeff Weiner (LinkIn).

Search, while the usual suspects take top spot the other members of the top 5 in this category are lost on me. Of course it is no surprise that Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Google) take top place and they are followed by: Stefan Weitz (Microsoft), Carol Bartz (Yahoo), Jason Calacanis (Mahalo), and Robin Li (Baidu).

Last but not least let’s have some fun and see who the top 5 over-rated are. Well lookie lookie who do we have here – Evan Williams (Twitter), Biz Stone (Twitter), Sergey Brin (Google), Larry Ellision and finally Howard Schmidt (Cyber-Czar).

I love the reason for Evan being selected number one in his category

Here’s to you, @ev , for managing to achieve Higher Power Status as the founder of this century’s most overrated product, Twitter. Thanks to your supreme Website, the world is riper than ever with tech toadies, who leap at the opportunity to gush over the ability to compress their already dim thoughts into 140 characters.

Too true.
