I Am Alive is still alive, according to ESRB rating

Ubisoft’s I Am Alive is a strange beast. It was announced back in 2008 and pegged with a “Spring 2009” release, but obviously that didn’t quite work out as expected.

But that’s not even the strange part – since its announcement, Ubisoft hasn’t shown us anything significant regarding I Am Alive . Naturally, speculation started to run rampant that the game was canceled or was stuck in the dreaded ‘Development Hell’, but Ubisoft wouldn’t say.

But today, an unexpected champion arose to confirm that I Am Alive just might still be alive: the ESRB. The ESRB is known to out games before publishers have even gotten around to announcing them, but this time they’ve chosen to use their powers for good by giving us hope.

The ESRB listing describes I Am Alive as “an action game in which players assume the role of a man who must find his family in a post-apocalyptic world.”

The listing goes on to describe the game as being played in a third-person perspective, with players adventuring through city ruins and chopping up baddies – human baddies, apparently – with machetes along the way.

The listing paints a very dark, adult setting for I Am Alive ‘s post-apocalyptic world. One such example given by the ESRB is that players will encounter and rescue women who have apparently been the victim of some particularly nasty deeds.

The listing isn’t quite a confirmation that I Am Alive is still going to come out, but at least it provides a little hope – and, as it happens, a few bits of new information. Maybe the listing will prompt Ubisoft to stop being so mean and actually talk about the game for once.
