Remember when Windows 7 was all the talk of the Tablet PC world? You know right before Apple and Google took over the market out of nowhere? Well apparently all the talk of those tablets dying was premature, in fact today HP announced the HP Slate 500, a Windows 7 toting tablet with an 8.9-inch WSVGA display that offers a hybrid capacitive multitouch option for finger control or use of HP’s “Digital Pen.”
The unit runs on a 1.86GHz Z540 processor and comes with a 64GB Solid State Drive and a GMA 500 GPU with the Broadcom Crystal HD enhanced video accelerator chip.
In terms of connections users will enjoy a USB 2.0 port, SD card reader, audio in/out jack and WiFi b/g/n connectivity. The units bundled cradle also brings with it two more USB 2.0 ports, another audio in/out jack and an HDMI port.
For camera lovers you’ll find two of them, a VGA camera on the front for video calling and a 3-megapixel camera on the back.
In terms of dimensions the unit comes in at 5.91 x 9.21 x 0.58 inches and weighs 1.5lb while offering a 2-cell 20WHr battery.
While there is still no release date, the HP Slate 500 will cost $799 and comes with the additional dock and portfolio case. [via SlashGear ]
