Hillary Clinton To Ban Guns And Shut Down The NRA, As Told To The ‘Des Moines Register’? Not So Fast [Hoax]

According to Facebook, nearly 50,000 people are currently talking about the phrases “Hillary Clinton guns” and “Hillary Clinton guns lobbyist.” The social media platform reports more than 30,000 people are currently talking about Clinton and the NRA.

All the hubbub over Clinton supposedly shutting down the NRA and banning all guns from everyone originated from a fake story that claimed Hillary told the Des Moines Register about her plans to do so.

As reported by Snopes , there is no quote to the Des Moines Register in an interview that allegedly happened on August 8, 2015, in which Hillary swore she would shut down the NRA and ban guns.

Instead, it was Tumblr blog post that began the rumors, with a photo of Clinton and a quote about banning guns and shutting down the NRA once she became President Hillary Clinton.

Notably, the Tumblr page called Hillary Clinton Quotes is no longer active, and that is most likely because of spreading false rumors and fake news. However, the page did claim it contained true quotes from Clinton that were sourced and validated, which prompted other people to share the quotes all over the place. The blog also called Hillary a psychopath.

“Get to know the psychopath known as Hillary Clinton a little better. These are 100 [percent] sourced and verified quotes. We recommend you SHARE and SPREAD these far and wide, to friends and family.”

However, the Des Moines Register does not note any such quote from Hillary about banning guns and shutting down the NRA. Hillary has been quoted via the publication as stating that gun usage is out of control, especially in the wake of senseless shootings that have taken place at a Bible study and at movie theaters, as well as other places across the country.

“I’m going to speak out against the uncontrollable use of guns in our country because I believe we can do better than that. A majority of Americans and a majority of gun owners agree with universal background checks to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and people who are mentally unstable and even terrorists.”

“We’ve got to do something. It’s a very difficult political issue. But we are smart enough, compassionate enough to balance legitimate Second Amendment rights concerns with preventive measures and control measures, so whatever motivated this murderer… we will not see more needless, senseless deaths.”

“I’m tired of people in public life saying, ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with families whose children are murdered at community colleges or elementary schools or people killed at Bible studies or going to the movies.’ We can’t tolerate that. This doesn’t just happen… We let it happen.”

Another fake story that was recently debunked by Snopes regarding Hillary involved one that claimed Clinton lost her temper with Matt Lauer.

That false report claimed that Hillary melted down and tossed a glass at one staffer while cursing out someone else in the wake of the Commander-in-Chief Forum held by NBC .

Instead, the truth seems closer to the fact that Hillary’s campaign wasn’t thrilled with Lauer’s questions for Clinton in September during the event, but her displeasure did not lead to the crazy hissy fit that is being claimed in certain articles floating around online.

As seen in the top photo, Hillary arrived at Pittsburgh International Airport, on Saturday, October 22. Clinton was once again portrayed on SNL against the comedy show’s version of Donald Trump on the same day.
